Building up relationships in business is so important. Whether it be through networking or the way you conduct yourself in your business life.
There is an old saying that you should treat people the way you expect to be treated and the same can be said for business too and obviously as debt recovery specialists we are going to talk about paying outstanding invoices.
Last week I was lucky enough to hear the excellent Chris Brindley MBE speak who told us about Pie and Peas!
A very simple acronym and means
Exposure to decision makers
We offer a service of credit control, which liaises with your clients to ensure they pay their invoices in a timely manner but you have to practice what you preach a good record of paying on time will help you not only when it comes to credit searches but you will also be able to build up a good relationship with your clients.
Over the last eighteen months we have seen unprecedented challenges particularly to small businesses and having good relationships with your suppliers has become essential especially is you have needed to ask a favour about delaying payments it is a lot easier if your creditors know that you have a good track and a relationship where you can ask for that favour.
Of course this is not 100% guaranteed as your suppliers may be in the same boat and need payments and of course you may have the same favour asked of you.
Your suppliers and yourselves should always carry out due diligence and we highly recommend obtaining credit searches in these instances to ensure there are no surprises along the way and we are more than happy to help anyone with these if needed. You may also need to look at personal guarantees to ensure some security.
But the key to all this is that the way you conduct yourself and your business will reflect on the way people think of you.
Finally a quote we really like is “Do what you said you would do, when you said you would do it”
